Protoma; bull's head relief mask made in gold using repoussé, granulation, and filigree. Central nostril area features granulation and filigree; cheeks and top use filigree only. Eyes, nostrils, and muzzle are repoussé and bordered with filigree. Small ears and horns are plastically modeled horns soldered on. Reverse closed with an undecorated gold sheet bearing an irregular hole removal of a fastening element. Date: ca. 1450–ca. 1100 BC Middle Elamite period, — alternative datings proposed to the Achaemenid period 600–539 BC and to the second half of the 2nd millennium BC. Place of origin: Elam, Iran. Decoration; height 9.5 cm, width 7.8 cm, depth 2.5 cm; weight 48 g., A close-up of a metallic decorative object shaped like an animal face, showing textured surfaces and raised features in gold tones against a gray background; the surface is covered in a dense pattern of small circular bumps and rings, with smoother, sculpted areas forming stylized eyes, nostrils, and other facial contours; a pair of curved, textured appendages extend upward from the top edges, and there are variations in the gold color ranging from bright yellow-gold to darker, aged bronze-like gold, with a few small dark spots and subtle shadows accentuating the relief.
