Jug, Jug on a ring-shaped foot from which a low, wide stem extends, transitioning into a belly. The upper part of the spherical body has a narrow spout. The wide, flaring neck terminates in a simple spout, from both sides of which a vice shaped like a flattened cylinder extends above the vessel. Decoration in brown varnish: concentric circles around the vessel four below and three above the spout. The foot and stem are varnished on top; the neck and outer side edges of the vice are varnished. The upper part of the vice is decorated with a row of transverse stripes. A strip of varnish encircles the spout at the base, and three stripes decorate the spout on the sides and top. Dated 1050–950 BC; Cyprus, Geometric Period I District IA. Vessel. Height 12.8 cm; width 6.5 cm., A rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow neck, a flared lip, a single curved handle arching from the lip to the neck, and a short spout protruding from the shoulder; the body sits on a small foot. The surface shows a beige to light tan base color with darker brown to black painted bands and a dark painted motif near the spout, and the neck, handle, foot, and parts of the shoulder have mottled dark brown to black discoloration and wear. The background is a flat gray.
