Mug, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop. Mug with slightly S-shaped walls and a small flat bottom with a convexity in the center. The rim is thickened in the form of a low, outwardly curled strip. Diagonal scratches are visible on the walls, leaving a technological trace of the vessel being polished. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. Tell Jassa el Gharbi North-Eastern Syria, Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin. Clay vessel, tableware; height 8.2 cm, width 9.5 cm, weight 156 g., A rounded ceramic vessel resting on a clear circular stand, showing a textured surface with areas of reddish-brown, terracotta, tan, olive green, and darker brown; the upper rim is slightly flared and the interior shares the reddish-brown and tan tones; the exterior displays a mottled pattern with irregular patches and streaks, and the lower portion has horizontal striations and darker brown banding; the clear stand is glossy and colorless, and the background is a neutral light gray.
