Globular vessel, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop Khaburu Basin, vice-free vessel, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, vessel for oils and ointments, clay, Early Dynastic III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, Al-Jazira Syria/Iraq, Mesopotamia, globular vessel with a spherical belly that at 3/4 height merges into short sloping shoulders with a narrow, slightly flared neck; part of the neck and spout missing. Origin: Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin, Tell Jassa el Gharbi Tell Jassa el-Gharbi, north-eastern Syria. Vessel; height 13 cm, width 10.9 cm., A rounded, weathered clay object with an irregular broken top sits against a plain gray background; the surface shows a mottled, rough texture with areas of lighter beige, tan, and darker brown discoloration, and a few small chips and cracks along the sides and near the top.
