Globular vessel, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. A globular vessel whose body rises about 3/4 of its height into sloping arms, from which arises a low, narrow neck terminating in a thickened, flared rim. The transition from the body to the arms is emphasized by a shallow, wide horizontal groove. Function: vessel for oils and ointments; vice-free vessel., globular vessel; Early Dynastic III period. Origin: Northern Mesopotamia Al-Jazira, Khabur basin, Tell Jassa el Gharbi, Syria. Dimensions: height 10 cm, width 9.7 cm., A roughly spherical object with a textured, uneven surface in shades of beige, tan, and light brown floating against a solid gray background; the surface shows areas of lighter off-white patches and some darker brown spots, with visible rough patches and small indentations across the sphere.
