Awl, Tools; awl made from a cut triangular, flat fragment of animal bone. The elongated, sharpened end is polished from use piercing fabrics or leather. Early Jazira III / Early Dynastic III period, c. 2600–c. 2350 BC. Excavated at Tell Abu Hafur northeastern Syria, Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin. Height 7.4 cm; width 2.5 cm; diameter of pointed working end 0.4–0.7 cm., A single elongated, tapered object with a rough, irregular surface is shown against a flat background. The object has a pointed end and a thicker, jagged base, with visible pitting, small holes, and textured grooves along its length. Its surface shows a range of earthy colors including light tan, beige, brown, and some darker brown flecks, with subtle lighter streaks and patches. The background is a solid muted gray.
