Beaker with engraved decoration, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop. Hand-made beaker on a thick, cylindrical stem with a poorly defined foot. The bowl is a low form with an irregularly defined rim, glued to the foot. Three schematically engraved human figures on the bowl: the torso with head and legs shown by a vertical line ending in a dot at the top and a short downward-opening arc at the bottom; arms extended upward marked by an engraved horizontal line curved at both ends, intersecting the torso slightly below midpoint. Anthropomorphic depictions; engraved decorations; Near Eastern ceramics; Eastern Gaulish Scenery. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period Early Bronze/Early Dynastic III; ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. Findspot: Tell Abu Hafur northeastern Syria, Khabur basin, Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin. Vessel, weight 148 g., A rough, bowl-shaped ceramic object with a wide, shallow upper cavity atop a narrower cylindrical stem and a flared base, showing an uneven, textured surface with chips and small cracks; the material appears coarse and grainy with irregular edges and slight indentations; visible colors include beige, tan, light brown, and hints of off-white, set against a neutral gray background.
