Oinochoe, Geometric, end of the 8th century BC possibly end of 8th–beginning of 7th century BC; described as an Italian imitation of a Proto-Corinthian/Cumae workshop. Geometric oinochoe with a low foot, a gradually widening belly, distinct shoulders, a slender neck, and a tripartite rim. The vase runs from the shoulder to the rim. Halfway up the belly it is covered with black finish; the rest is decorated with closely set parallel horizontal lines encircling the vessel. The central part of the neck is decorated with vertical stripes. Function: vessel for drawing and pouring wine Greek: oinos. Southern Italy Cumae. Vessel type: oinochoe. Weight 0.476 kg; height 23.2 cm; diameter 12.2 cm., A ceramic jug with a rounded body, narrow neck, flared rim, and a single curved handle is shown against a neutral background; the jug has a beige base color with black horizontal bands encircling the body and neck, black painted accents near the rim and handle, and areas of darker brown and worn beige where the surface shows age, with a few small chips and scuffs visible.
