Oinochoe, Geometric, end of the 8th century BC possibly end of 8th–beginning of 7th century BC; described as an Italian imitation of a Proto-Corinthian/Cumae workshop. Geometric oinochoe with a low foot, a gradually widening belly, distinct shoulders, a slender neck, and a tripartite rim. The vase runs from the shoulder to the rim. Halfway up the belly it is covered with black finish; the rest is decorated with closely set parallel horizontal lines encircling the vessel. The central part of the neck is decorated with vertical stripes. Function: vessel for drawing and pouring wine Greek: oinos. Southern Italy Cumae. Vessel type: oinochoe.
