Skyphos mug with depictions of ducks, Late Geometric period, ca. 725–700 BC. Skyphos with a profiled belly. Just below the rim are two painted bands with a delicate line. The metopes depict ducks with long necks and legs, in front of which are stylized flowers; one bird image is very poorly preserved. Behind each bird's head is a swastika motif. Silhouette technique? Vices placed at the maximum width of the belly. Inner surface covered with matte, faded paint. A reserved line is left a short distance from the bottom; the bottom is undecorated. Technology: visible traces of turning. Varnish worn away in places. Clay light yellow with many inclusions. Surface shows significant abrasions and chips. Condition: spout damaged. Visible conservation additions old glue. Clay color: black 7.5 YT 2.5/1; red 10 R 4/4. Provenance/attribution notes: attributed to Attica; dated to Late Geometric 9th–8th century BC. Dimensions: height 9.0 cm; width 19.6 cm; depth 15 cm; weight 0.352 kg., A round shallow dish with two opposing handles, shown from above against a gray background, featuring concentric circular bands in dark brown and lighter tan on the interior surface, with a central circular mark in a warm tan color; the rim and handles show worn areas revealing beige and off-white tones, and there are subtle variations of black and muted brown across the surface.
