Stone vessel – kandila, Body in the shape of a flattened hemisphere with four evenly spaced, ribbed, vertical handles. The handles have round holes through their centers and slightly protrude into the surface of the body. Narrow, flattened shoulders. Neck clearly defined, wide, and conical. Spout in the form of a delicately defined roller running around the rim of the vessel. Interior hollowed out in the neck area with a shallow, semicircular recess protruding into the body; the remaining part of the belly is not hollowed out. 3200–2800 BC Early Cycladic I period, Grotta–Pelos culture, Cyclades. Vessel. Height 11.5 cm, width 9 cm, weight 0.734 kg., A rounded stone vessel on a flared pedestal, carved from a mottled light beige to creamy stone with areas of warmer tan and subtle grayish patches; the upper section tapers inward to a short neck and slightly rolled rim while the midsection bulges outward and shows a few shallow, irregular depressions; the surface appears slightly weathered with a mix of smooth and grainy textures, and the object casts a soft shadow on a neutral dark gray background.
