Canopic jar with a jackal's head, canopic jar, jackals, Duamutef mythology. The vessel widens upwards and ends with a slightly rounded rim. The lid is in the shape of a jackal's head. On the front of the vessel is a vertical hieroglyphic inscription, painted in black. The pupils and eyelids are polychrome. The ears are sculpturally detailed. The text refers to Kebehsenuf, so the lid was probably replaced it should be a falcon's head. c. 1069–664 BC; Third Intermediate Period, Egypt. Urn; height 32 cm, width 16 cm., A light beige cylindrical vessel with a rounded rim sits beside a light beige lid shaped like an animal head with prominent upright ears and a short snout; the vessel shows a few vertical and horizontal dark brush marks on its side while the lid displays carved facial features and subtle darker shading around the eyes and snout, and both objects rest on a neutral gray surface against a neutral gray background with soft shadows.
