Canopic jar with a jackal's head, canopic jars; jackals; Duamutef mythology. The vessel widens upwards and ends with a slightly rounded rim. The lid is in the shape of a jackal's head. On the front of the vessel is a vertical hieroglyphic inscription, painted in black. The pupils and eyelids are polychrome. The ears are sculpturally detailed. The text refers to Kebehsenuf, so the lid was probably replaced it should be a falcon's head. c. 1069–664 BC; Third Intermediate Period, Egypt. Urn; height 32 cm, width 16 cm., A tall cylindrical object with a rounded removable top that has two small pointed ear-like projections, all shown against a flat gray background; the object is a muted beige with subtle variations and small darker spots, and the background is solid medium gray.
