Sculptural model - head of Ptolemy II, Ptolemy II Philadelphus ruler of Egypt; 285–246 BC. Sculpture model, Egyptian sculpture, male head; oval, rather full face, almond-shaped slightly slanting eyes with upper eyelids marked by a double incision. Eyebrows weakly marked, sloping slightly downwards toward the temples. Nose wide; mouth protruding with recessed corners. Ears in the form of two loops. Back of the head smoothed, with a base. Ptolemaic period probably reign of Ptolemy II, Egypt. Height 13.5 cm, width 10.5 cm, depth 9.5 cm, weight 2.59 kg., A weathered stone sculpture of a human head displayed against a gray background, showing a smooth rounded face with a flat top and a band-like element across the forehead, a worn nose and mouth, closed or heavily lidded eyes, and areas of surface erosion and chipping; the sculpture rests on a light-colored stand. Colors visible include gray, beige, tan, and hints of brown.
