Figurine of the falcon Sokaris, guardian of the necropolis; creator, Horus mythology. A falcon stands on a thick rectangular base, resting its tail on the back edge. The bird's head is slightly raised; the beak long and curved; the body long with wings slightly plastically defined in their upper part and the lower parts merging with the tail. The head is black on the sides and back, the front of the head yellow with a black diagonal check; the eye marked with white and black paint; a white stripe around the neck; wings black and red; bird legs with red and black lines. Sokaris mythology. Date: 664–30 BC, Late Period–Ptolemaic Period, Egypt. Sculpture. Height 24.3 cm, width 20.5 cm., A carved bird figure perched on a rectangular base, shown in profile, with a rounded head and hooked beak, a tapered body and a single visible leg attached to the base; the surface appears worn and textured with visible cracks and areas of abrasion. The colors visible include shades of brown, reddish-brown, tan, beige, black, and gray, with the reddish-brown covering much of the body, tan and beige on worn areas and the base, black around the head and beak, and gray in the background.
