Figurine of the falcon Sokaris, guardian of the necropolis; Horus mythology; Sokaris mythology. A falcon stands on a thick, rectangular base, resting its tail on the back edge of the base. The bird's head is slightly raised. The beak is long, curved; the body is long, with wings slightly plastically defined in their upper part. The lower part of the wings merges with the tail. The head is black on the sides and back. The front of the head is yellow with a black, diagonal check. The eye is marked with white and black paint. A white stripe around the neck. The wings are black and red. Bird legs with red and black lines. Late Period–Ptolemaic Period, 664–30 BC, Egypt. Sculpture; height 24.3 cm, width 20.5 cm., A sculpted bird figure standing on a rectangular base, depicted in profile with a curved beak and a streamlined body; the surface shows worn painted areas including reddish-brown on the body, beige and tan patches where the paint has flaked, black detailing around the head and neck, and traces of darker brown on the legs and tail; the base is light beige with irregular texture and the background is a flat gray.
