Lid of an anthropoid sarcophagus of a woman with clearly modeled legs. The head is sculpturally modeled — very carefully. The face is triangular with a strong, flat, strongly forward chin. Large, almond-shaped eyes are plastically developed. The nose is straight, the mouth is small with fleshy lips, clearly highlighted. The wig is schematically designed. On the chest is a richly polychromed nine-row necklace. Below is a representation of a pectoral cross in the form of a winged vulture. The offering formula running through the center and on the sides divides the surface of the lid into six undecorated fields. c. 1400–c. 1295 BC; New Kingdom, late 18th Dynasty; Deir el-Medina grave 1352, western necropolis. Sarcophagus lid; height 193 cm, width 53 cm., A long horizontal sculpted figure lying flat with a stylized human face and upper torso at one end and a raised footblock at the other, rendered in dark tones with visible areas of gold and warm brown pigments; the face and chest show reddish-brown and ochre hues, the main body surface appears predominantly black with several gold-painted decorative bands and motifs, and the background is a neutral gray transitioning to light gray near the base.
