Jug. Medium-sized biconical clay jug with wide, sloping shoulders and a wide neck that is almost cylindrical in its lower section and widens toward the spout, the neck about one-third of the vessel's height. Profiled, irregular spout raised and extended on one side forming a small secondary spout; slightly rounded, almost triangular in cross-section with a millimetre-long indentation on the outer profile. Bottom almost flat, very slightly rounded. Made on the wheel of Nile clay NB1 Vienna System. Outer surface leveled, covered with an engobe and polished; inner surface leveled. Color red-brown. Complete and very well preserved. Old Kingdom, 5th–6th Dynasty, c. 2494–c. 2181 BC, from Edfu. Vessel; height 19.9 cm, rim diameter 8.1 cm, bottom diameter 9.5 cm, body diameter 16.7 cm, weight 1.1 kg. Analogies: T. Rzeuska, Saqqara II; G. Brunton, Qau and Badari., A terracotta-colored pottery vessel with a rounded body that tapers toward a short, flared neck and a slightly rolled rim, showing a matte textured surface with a few dark grayish-black smudges and speckles, set against a uniform cool gray background.
