Jug. Medium-sized biconical clay jug, widest at about half its height with wide, sloping shoulders. Wide neck nearly cylindrical in its lower section, widening toward the spout; neck height about one-third of total vessel height. Profiled, irregular spout raised and extended on one side forming a small secondary spout; slightly rounded, almost triangular in cross-section with a millimetre-long indentation on the outer profile. Bottom almost flat, very slightly rounded. Made on the wheel of Nile clay NB1, Vienna System. Outer surface leveled, covered with an engobe and polished; inner surface leveled. Red-brown color. Complete, very well preserved. Old Kingdom, 5th–6th Dynasty c. 2494–c. 2181 BC, Edfu. Vessel; height 19.9 cm; rim dia. 8.1 cm; bottom dia. 9.5 cm; body dia. 16.7 cm; weight 1.1 kg. Brunton Qau and Badari; an analogous vessel from Edfu is in the Louvre., A plain terracotta vessel with a rounded body narrowing toward a short neck and flared rim, showing a textured surface with small imperfections and subtle sheen; the vessel is a warm orange-brown color and sits against a smooth bluish-gray background.
