Medum type bowl, Ceramics; Egyptian pottery vessel Medum type bowl with carination under the rim. Rim diameter smaller than the diameter of the shoulders. Rounded bottom. Straight, slightly flaring rim. Made on the wheel from Nile clay; surface leveled. Bottom and lower part finished to about half its height with a knife or similar tool. Surface covered with a layer of engobe . Vessel color: red. Date: c. 2686–c. 2181 BC Old Kingdom. Origin: Edfu. Function: vessel. Height 9 cm; diameter rim 21.1 cm; diameter shoulders 21.5 cm., A large shallow bowl-like clay vessel is shown against a plain light gray background, with a rounded body tapering to a blunt point and a slightly flared rim; the surface shows a weathered texture with scratches and small chips. The predominant color of the vessel is terracotta, with lighter and darker variations of reddish-brown and some pale tan spots.
