Amulet — Toeris; creator, Toeris myth.; Egyptian deities, hippopotamuses, Egyptian religion; Late Period, 664–332 BC, Egypt; amulet; height 4.6 cm, width 1.5 cm., A small carved figure shown from the back with a rounded head and textured vertical grooves suggesting hair, a protruding rectangular element at the upper back, long narrow arms resting along the sides, and a tapered lower body carved with chevron-like grooves; the surface shows a weathered, speckled pale green to bluish-green coloration with areas of brownish discoloration and small dark spots, and a few small accents of bright red on one side, all set against a plain light gray background.
