Terracotta figurine of a veiled woman, dancer, molded Tanagra figurine in fine-grained red clay. Figure of a standing woman in contrapposto wearing a long chiton and himation covering the head, lower face, and upper torso. Both arms bent — right hand placed in front on the breasts, left behind on the back. Probably a masked dancer. Condition: base stamped, head glued. 3rd century BC, Tanagra Greece. Sculpture. Height 15.9 cm, width 4.8 cm., A standing sculpture of a draped figure shown against a plain gray background, the figure appears wrapped in a long flowing garment that covers the head and body, with visible folds and creases in the fabric and a wrapped section across the lower face; the surface shows an earthy brown color with variations of lighter beige and subtle worn spots, and there are areas of darker brown patina and tiny surface imperfections on the dress and base.
