Fragment of a sarcophagus lid. Part of the lid of an anthropoid woman's sarcophagus. Large, striped wig falling on the breasts at the front, decorated with four diadems of lotus petals and vulture wings, and bands of rosettes at the ends. On the breast is a multi-row necklace, with lotus flowers and rosettes forming the lower row. Lotuses, vulture vulture wings, element of the so-called vulture diadem, necklace, wigs, funerary equipment, lotus flower decorative motif. Egyptian art. c. 945–c. 735 BC; Third Intermediate Period, 22nd Dynasty, Egypt. Sarcophagus. Height 62 cm, width 49 cm, depth 20 cm., A carved wooden object with a rounded top and stepped sides, showing a worn, rough surface and visible grain; the wood varies in shades of brown with lighter tan highlights along edges and recessed grooves, and a few darker brown streaks and patches; there is a small metal hanging loop near the top center showing a gray-silver color; the background is a flat light gray.
