Decoration in the shape of the head of Silenus. Relief appliqué of the head of Silenus. The head is depicted in profile facing left. The nose is wrinkled and snub-nosed, with clearly marked holes, and the lips are full and pursed in a slightly sarcastic grimace. The face is framed by a mustache and beard. The eyes have clearly defined irises, half-closed, with slightly upturned eyebrows. At the level of the lower corner of the eye, a round hole is drilled through – the remains of a mounting. Behind it, at eye level, a clearly developed, though somewhat schematically depicted ear can be seen. A wreath or crown is visible on the hair above the forehead. A semicircular, oval cutout of unknown purpose is visible under the chin. 3rd–2nd century BC, Myrmekion Black Sea region. Appliqué, bas-relief; height 7.2 cm, width 4.1 cm., An irregularly shaped flat object with a rough, porous texture in shades of beige, tan, light brown, and gray, showing natural striations and small pits; a small round hole is visible near the upper center; a rectangular patch of woven fabric in a pale peach tone is attached near the top; a short area of red pigment appears near the fabric; the object has curved and notched edges with a small pointed protrusion at the bottom and an overall worn, weathered surface.
