Corinthian-type helmet., Dated ca. 600 BC previously dated 630–600 BC. Possibly from Sparta or Mycenae according to Otto Schaubert. Bronze helmet with thicker cheekpieces and a significantly thickened nose plate; domed peak with slightly concave walls widening at the edge. Two small round holes near the back edge and one in the peak for attaching a cord. Edges of the helmet, cheekpieces, and eyeholes decorated with a precise band of ornament: rectangular fields framed by double engraved lines and separated by double engraved squares, with rows of tiny applied plastic spheres; an additional row of similar spheres between the lines framing the top of the rectangles. Ornamentation reaches the base of the nose guard, which is decorated only with engraved lines repeating the plate’s shape. Function: weapon/helm. Height 23 cm, width 18.2 cm, depth 25 cm, weight 1.322 kg., A roughly spherical object with an irregular hole in its surface sits against a neutral background; the object's surface is mottled with a mix of reddish brown, green, turquoise, and darker brown patches, with some lighter green and pale blue areas scattered across it, and a small protruding rounded handle on one side.
