Black-finished aryballoi lekythos, Greek black-glazed pottery. Aryballoi lekythos coated with black varnish. Medium with flat foot flowing directly into a bulging body, significantly widened in its lower section. Nearly horizontal handles flow into a slender neck ending in a markedly widening, cup-shaped rim. Handle attached at the transition from body to handles and below the cup-shaped rim. Body bears an engraved ornament of long, vertically arranged petals. Good condition, minor damage to varnish; neck cracked and glued. 4th century BC, Attic manufacture, vessel lekythos., A dark rounded vase with a narrow neck and flared rim set against a gray background, the vase appears primarily black with subtle brown tones at the rim and base, the body shows vertical carved or molded panels creating a ribbed appearance, the surface has a matte finish with faint lighter scuffs and worn spots, and the base sits on a slightly raised foot that shows more of the brown underlayer.
