Lamp production mold, oil lamp ceramic mold, Roman lamps, material culture, 1st–2nd century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476, mold; height 4 cm, width 11.6 cm, depth 8.5 cm, A weathered shallow bowl-shaped object with an irregular oval outline, made of a rough textured material in shades of tan and brown with darker brown and blackened patches; its rim is uneven and slightly raised, curving inward to form a concave interior that has a central raised mound and shallow depressions, while one end shows a carved notch or spout-like indentation; the object rests on a smooth gray surface and casts a soft shadow.
