Jug, A small handleless jug with a biconical body, widest at about half its height. Broad, rather flat shoulders; a wide, almost cylindrical neck that widens slightly toward a profiled, irregular spout which slopes down on one side and extends to form a small pouring lip. Spout cross-section triangular with an approx. 1 mm central indentation on the outer profile. Neck was shaped separately and attached to the shoulders. Bottom almost flat, very slightly rounded. Made of Nile clay NB1/2, per the Vienna System. Outer surface and inner rim/neck leveled and covered with an engobe and polished/smoothed; remaining inner surface leveled. Red-brown in color. Nearly complete with a small fragment of the rim missing; outer surface slightly worn in places. Old Kingdom, cited as 4th–6th Dynasty c. 2686–c. 2181 BC. From Edfu. Vessel; height 11.4 cm; rim diameter 5.5 cm; shoulder diameter 10.8 cm; bottom diameter 7.1 cm. References: G. Brunton; T.
