Sarcophagus lid, The deceased is depicted in a semi-reclining position, resting his left forearm on a pillow and holding a laurel wreath in his right hand. He wears a short-sleeved tunic and a cloak which, when thrown over the head, reveals the torso and left arm from shoulder to elbow; the right foot is visible from under the cloak. The human figure has very elongated proportions, with notably long legs in relation to the torso. 2nd half of the 2nd century BC, Etruria. Sarcophagus; height 71 cm, width 203 cm, depth 48 cm, weight 108 kg., A reclining sculptural figure viewed from the foot, showing a weathered stone or terracotta surface in shades of beige, tan, brown, and muted reddish tones; the figure has a visible head turned to the side with facial features and stylized hair, an upper torso and arms resting along the body, and hands clasped over the front; the draped form of a garment or covering extends along the length of the figure, with textured, worn edges and small pits and holes in the base; the background is a smooth gradient of gray.
