Figurine of the Soul of Ba, Ba mythology; birds; bird iconography; djed pillars; wigs; Soul personification; figurine with beards and feathers. The figurine has carefully carved and painted facial details and a reproduced arrangement of feathers on the wings. On the head is a tripartite wig painted blue. On the chest below the wig is a depiction of a djed pillar. Straps supporting a false beard are painted along the cheeks. The figurine's disproportionately large feet rest on a rectangular base. Late Period, Egypt, 664–332 BC. Object: figurine; height 11 cm, width 9.5 cm, depth 4.5 cm., A small carved wooden figure shown from the back, painted mainly in blue with areas of worn beige and brown where the paint has chipped; the figure sits on a rectangular base that is natural wood brown and weathered, and there is a pattern of blue paint extending down the back and onto the base, with traces of darker brown and lighter off-white showing through.
