Vessel, Egyptian pottery, ceramics, clay vessel. A conical vessel, widest at approximately 3/4 of its height. The shoulders are quite wide, almost horizontal—slightly sloping. The neck is wide, short, funnel-shaped, widening towards the spout. The spout is wide, flat in the upper part, slightly rounded at the bottom, slightly asymmetrical. The bottom is slightly convex, asymmetrical. The surface of the vessel is even. The lower part of the vessel has been worked to approximately 2/3 of its height with a knife or similar tool. The outer surface of the vessel and the inner surface of the rim and neck are covered with a layer of dark red engobe. Vessel color: dark red. Vessel complete. Surface eroded in many places, numerous clay chips on the rim. ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC; Old Kingdom, Edfu; vessel; height 16.7 cm, diameter 9.5 cm rim, diameter 13 cm body, diameter 8.1 cm bottom., A round, shallow ceramic bowl viewed from above showing its underside, with a worn, textured surface in reddish-brown clay tones and patches of lighter tan; the rim and interior curve are visible, and there are a few small pits and abrasions in the clay; the background is a smooth gradient of light gray.
