Figurine of the god Mahes. Mahes myth., Egyptian deities, Egyptian art, Egyptian sculpture. Figurine of a striding man with a lion's head. The lion's head is set directly on the shoulders. The wig is striped. A square pin is on top of the head. The right arm is bent at the elbow and placed on the chest, the left arm is freely placed along the body. A short striped loincloth is on the hips. 664–525 BC; Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt. Figurine; height 26 cm, width 7 cm, depth 3.8 cm., A weathered dark bronze figurine viewed from the back stands on a clear base against a neutral gray background; the figure has a rounded headpiece with carved vertical lines and a central vertical protrusion, small rounded ear-like shapes, broad shoulders and muscular arms with one arm bent and the other hanging down holding a small object, a narrow waist leading to a pleated skirt with textured vertical ridges and a patterned belt area, and short sturdy legs showing patches of lighter greenish corrosion and surface wear; the visible colors include dark bronze, gray, greenish patina, and small areas of lighter brownish tones.
