Woman's sarcophagus mask. Mask of wood covered with a layer of canvas with paint applied. The face is wide, painted yellow. Large almond-shaped eyes with pupils highlighted in black and arched eyebrows. Straight nose flattened at the tip. Mouth and chin protrusions marked in red, as is the outline of the eye sockets above the eyes. Face height: 15 cm. Sarcophagus fragments; masks, faces; grave goods. Mask from Egypt, 1st–2nd century; Roman period 4th century AD. Sarcophagus mask; height 15 cm, width 14.3 cm, depth 8 cm, weight 0.454 kg., A carved wooden profile of a human face oriented to the left with visible contours of a nose, lips, and chin, painted in a muted yellow-beige tone with areas of darker brown weathering; a painted eye area features bold black lines and a small white triangular highlight, with a band of reddish-brown and a thin yellow stripe above the eye; the top and back edges of the wood show natural brown wood grain and rough texture, and the background is a uniform medium gray.
