Snake-headed fibula, unknown Southern Italian workshop. Fibula with an arched, thick hoop. The hoop is terminated on one side with an imitation spiral, and on the other side connected to the rectangular wall of the sheath, bent at the bottom. A cylindrical leg extends from the sheath, bent towards the hoop, ending with a snake's head. The hoop is decorated with numerous longitudinally engraved lines. Silver. Condition: corrosion, missing needle. 5th–4th century BC, Southern Italy. Snake iconography., A metallic curved object with a patinated silver-gray surface sits against a plain light gray background; the object has a smooth arching band with ridged grooves along its outer curve ending in a small curled tip, and the opposite end forms a flattened rectangular section decorated with incised triangular patterns and a raised textured band, while a sculpted animal-like head with a tapered snout and folded features projects from one side, showing variations of dark gray, silvery highlights, and some darker brownish spots.
