Figure of St. Barbara, medieval wall sculpture, hollowed out from behind head also has a circular hollow. Depicts St. Barbara in contrapposto, creating a slight S-shaped silhouette. Slightly oversized head on a cylindrical neck; elongated face with high forehead, straight narrow nose, full cheeks, small smiling mouth with dimples and a dimpled chin. Long hair framed and falling down her back, one strand draped over her right shoulder, carved in thin parallel wavy strands. She wears a crown finial broken. Right hand grasps the stem of a chalice; left hand, fingers covered by a cloak, supports the foot of the chalice. Dressed in a gown with triangular neckline and long wide sleeves, cinched with a decorative belt; voluminous cloak with numerous folds and dry thin ridges. Pointed left shoe peeks from beneath the folds. Round, irregularly carved base. No polychrome. ca. 1500, possibly Silesia. Sculpture, height 102.0 cm, width 35.0 cm, depth 24.0 cm., A wooden carved figure shown in profile against a gray background, with long wavy hair and a crown-like headpiece, wearing flowing draped garments and holding a cup with both hands; the carving displays natural wood tones of tan, brown, and golden hues with variations in grain and darker areas in creases and carved details.
