Figure of St. Barbara, sculptor unknown. Medieval wall sculpture, hollowed out from behind the head also has a circular hollow. Depicts St. Barbara in contrapposto, creating an S-shaped silhouette. Slightly oversized head on a cylindrical neck; elongated face with high forehead, straight narrow nose, full cheeks; small smiling mouth creating dimples in cheeks and a dimple in the chin. Long hair framed in thin parallel wavy strands, falling down her back with a strand over her right shoulder. Wears a crown finial broken. Right hand grasps the stem of a chalice attribute of St. Barbara; left hand, fingers covered by cloak, supports the chalice from beneath. Dress with triangular neckline and long wide sleeves, cinched at the waist with a decorative belt; voluminous cloak with numerous folds and dry thin ridges. Pointed left shoe peeks from beneath folds. Base round and irregularly carved. No polychrome. Circa 1500, possibly Silesia. Sculpture; height 102.0 cm, width 35.0 cm, depth 24.0 cm., A carved wooden statue of a standing female figure wearing a crown and long flowing hair, holding a goblet with both hands; the figure is dressed in a draped robe with detailed folds and a carved base beneath the feet. The visible colors are shades of brown in the wood and a solid grey background.
