Fragment of the spout and stamped vise of a Sinopean amphora. The spout is a low, semicircular cylinder; the vise is oval in cross-section. On its upper surface is a partially impressed stamp of the astynomas Femios, son of Theopeithos. The first line of the legend the astynomas' titulary is missing; the second and third lines contain the name and patronymic. To the right of the legend is an emblem showing a man trampling grapes placed in a basket. 2nd half of the 3rd century BC. Sinope. Height 7.9 cm; width 10.7 cm., A broken curved fragment of a clay or ceramic object rests on a smooth surface; the fragment is a light tan or beige color with darker brown speckles and rough, grainy texture on some edges, and it casts a soft gray shadow on the flat gray background and surface.
