Cow astragal, Myrmekion Crimea, Hellenistic period, antiquity, cow astragal condylo-talus bone, 332–30 BC, Myrmekion place of finding, product of nature, height 3.4 cm, A single irregularly shaped object with a rough, pitted surface sits centered against a flat background; the object is primarily beige with areas of darker tan and pale ochre, and it shows textured grooves, small cavities, and uneven edges. The background is a uniform muted gray. There is a subtle reflection of the object on the smooth surface beneath it. The object’s surface displays speckled darker spots and slightly smoother worn areas, and one side shows a small concave indentation.
