Canopic urn lid in the shape of a human head, Sons of Horus mythology; tomb equipment. This head is characterized by extremely subtle modelling, characteristic of the best works of the Amarna and early post-Amarna periods 2nd half of the 14th century BC. Delicate, aristocratic facial features, sfumato especially around the eyes, a wig with stripes of varied texture—features of high-quality sculpture of the period. c. 1350–c. 1295 BC; New Kingdom, end of 18th Dynasty, Egypt. Canopic urn. Height 8.2 cm; width 8.6 cm; depth 9.2 cm; weight 1.124 kg., A carved stone object resembling a head in profile sits against a dark gray background, showing a smooth rounded top and a stylized face with a prominent nose and chin; the surface of the stone displays a mix of creamy white, beige, pale yellow, and light brown tones with subtle translucent areas and banded striations, and there are a few rougher textured patches and thin reddish-brown lines running across the form, with a shadow visible beneath the base.
