Delicate, aristocratic facial features, sfumato especially around the eyes, a wig with stripes of varied texture—features found in sculpture of the highest quality. c. 1350–c. 1295 BC; New Kingdom, end of 18th Dynasty, Egypt. Canopic urn. Height 8.2 cm; width 8.6 cm; depth 9.2 cm; weight 1.124 kg., A carved stone head with a rounded top and stylized hair, showing a smooth pale surface with a few areas of translucence and subtle brownish and beige veining; the facial features include closed eyes, a broad nose, and a faint mouth, all rendered in the same pale cream and off-white tones with warmer beige and light brown accents; the sides and lower edge show rougher, textured areas with creamy white and tan colors; the object sits on a darker grayish base and casts a soft shadow on a neutral gray background.
