Female figurine. The figurine depicts a standing woman wrapped in a cloak, leaning her left elbow against a rock. Traces of paint have been preserved: red on the sandal worn by the figure's left foot and on the lips, white on the cloak, and blue on the chiton, a fragment of which peeks out from beneath the outer garment. The modeling of the figure is very precise and accurate, particularly the face and the slightly tilted right head, covered by the cloak. The position of the body leaning against the rock—slightly bent—with crossed legs, clearly outlined under the cloak the left leg is moved forward and the aforementioned tilt of the head in the opposite direction to the rest of the body give the figurine a melancholic mood. 4th century BC, Tanagra Greece. Figurine; height 35.5 cm, width 16.5 cm, depth 13.8 cm, weight 1.45 kg., A standing sculpture of a draped human figure with a rounded head and short hair, wearing flowing garments that form layered folds and a wrapped mantle, leaning slightly and supported by an irregular rocky form at the side; the surface shows patches of lighter encrustation atop a warm tan or brown material, with areas of paler white residues and some darker brown shadows in the folds; the figure stands on a rectangular base against a neutral gray background.
