Red-figure kantharos with a depiction of an ephebe with an aryballos and a Greek inscription “Beautiful boy”., Kantharos with a slightly flared spout, a deep bowl, a flat bottom, a high profiled stem, a ring-shaped foot. Thin-walled. A obverse: bearded man with a lyre in his head in left profile, holding a lyre in his left hand. B reverse: ephebe with aryballos. The inner surface of the bowl is covered with varnish. Technology: smooth surface; varnish thick, shiny, unevenly fired. Notes: vessel intact; small secondary losses and chips visible on the surface. Varnish color: 10 YR 2/1 black. Date: ca. 450 BC mid-5th century BC. Provenance: Attica. Type: kantharos, vessel. Dimensions: height 11 cm; width 16.2 cm; depth 10.2 cm., A black ceramic two-handled cup on a short pedestal with a rounded base, decorated with an orange-figure scene showing a robed standing figure holding a stringed instrument in one hand and a rounded object nearby, with worn areas and small chips. Colors visible include black, orange, and shades of brown and tan, set against a neutral gray background.
