Black-figure neck amphora with a depiction of dancing maenads, The Diosphos Painter ca. 500–475 BC. Dionysus mythology; maenads mythology. Amphora with a flared spout, a cylindrical neck with slightly concave walls clearly cut off from the body, an ovoid body tapering downward, and a cylindrical foot with straight edges. Handles made of two clay rolls, placed under the spout, resting on the arms. Flat handles. Recessed bottom, 3.5 cm wide. Technology: Smooth surface with shiny, metallic varnish. Well-cleaned, homogeneous clay with no visible impurities; varnish applied in an even layer. Condition: A few secondary defects on the vessel surface. Internal surface contaminated. Chip on the spout. Glued foot. Clay color: close to 5 YR 6/6 reddish red. Varnish color: 10 YR 2/1 black. Red color: 7.5 R 3/3 dusky red. White color: 2.5 Y 7/2 light grey. Attributed to Kamila Nocon, ca. 500–ca. 475 BC, Attica, Athens. Amphora, vessel, weight 0.43 kg., An orange and black ceramic amphora with a wide rim and two handles displays a painted scene on its body; the rim and handles are black with some orange wear, and the neck features black decorative motifs on an orange background. The main panel shows a group of figures in black garments with orange skin tones, some holding objects and wearing headdresses, surrounded by black ornamental elements and accents. The base is black with an orange rim, and the overall background behind the amphora is gray.
