Red-figure hydria with a combat scene, Laghetto-Caivano Group c. 340–320 BC; Duel Painter 340–330 BC attribution. Hydria decorated with two naked hoplite warriors fighting with long spears; they wear pointed helmets, hold round convex shields in their left hands, and wear greaves. Weaponry painted white with yellow retouching. Ca. 340–320 BC, Campania. Vessel hydria. Height 22.5 cm; width 15.6 cm; depth 13.3 cm; weight 0.612 kg., A black ceramic vessel with a rounded body, flared neck, and a flat rim shows a painted scene of two nude figures facing each other with shields and helmets, rendered in a reddish-orange color against the black background; the shields have lighter worn areas. The vessel has a decorative band with repeating oval shapes around the neck and a wavy ornamental band around the body, both in the same reddish-orange color. There are handles on either side of the shoulder that are black with some reddish-orange wear, and the foot of the vessel is a dull brownish color. The background behind the vessel is a neutral light gray.
