Oinochoe in the shape of a woman's head. Yellowish clay with orange surface, in places shiny black engobe; some elements painted white. The upper part and the headdress are covered with black engobe, with a white olive wreath on the headdress. The neck is outlined at the base with a black band. The elongated female face, very carefully modeled, corresponds to the classic Attic head type from the second half of the 5th century BC. Oval eyes are surrounded by a black outline. Hair is divided by a parting and falls in waves to ear level. The headdress flows into a narrow neck ending in a wide, cup-shaped spout. A cylindrical handle is attached vertically between the rim and the back of the head. Preservation: missing engobe in some places, damaged surface. ca. 450 BC, Attica. Oinochoe vessel, head iconography, Greek., The image shows a terracotta sculpted head of a person with stylized wavy hair and a long neck, topped by a tall, spotted black object that resembles a handle or vessel feature; the face has carved eyes, a straight nose, and closed lips, with some surface wear and small chips visible on the cheeks and neck. The visible colors are terracotta orange on the face and neck, black with pale speckles on the top object and base rim, and subtle lighter beige areas where the surface is worn.
