Oinochoe in the shape of a woman's head. Yellowish clay with orange surface and areas of shiny black engobe; some elements painted white. The upper part and headdress are covered with black engobe, with a white olive wreath on the headdress. The neck is outlined at the base with a black band. The elongated female face, very carefully modeled, corresponds to the classic Attic head type from the second half of the 5th century. Oval eyes are surrounded by a black outline. Hair is parted and falls in waves to ear level. The headdress flows into a narrow neck ending in a wide, cup-shaped spout. A cylindrical handle vice is attached vertically between the rim and the back of the head. Preservation: missing engobe in places, damaged surface. Ca. 450 BC, Attica. Oinochoe vessel., The image shows a sculpted head-shaped vessel photographed in profile against a plain gray background, with the face turned to the right. The object combines a terracotta-colored human head with a dark vessel forming a helmet and a curved handle extending upward and backward; the dark surface of the helmet and handle is mottled with lighter, worn spots. The head displays sculpted hair and facial features rendered in the same terracotta tone, and there are areas where the surface shows cracks and wear. The base of the piece is slightly flared and rests on a reflective surface that creates a soft reflection beneath it. Colors visible include terracotta, dark green-black, lighter beige or cream tones in the worn areas, and gray in the background and reflection.
