Oinochoe in the shape of a woman's head, repossession Bytom, Greece, oinochoe, head iconography, Greek culture, ancient vessels, yellowish clay, orange surface, in places shiny black engobe. Some elements painted white. Oinochoe in the shape of a woman's head. The upper part is covered with black engobe, as is the headdress, on which a white olive wreath stands out. The neck is outlined at the base with a black band. The elongated female face, very carefully modeled, corresponds to the classic Attic head type from the second half of the 5th century. The oval eyes are surrounded by a black outline. The hair is divided into two parts by a parting and falls in waves to ear level. The headdress flows into a narrow neck ending in a wide, cup-shaped spout. A cylindrical vice is attached vertically between the rim and the back of the head. Preservation condition: missing engobe in some places, damaged surface. Ca. 450 BC, Attica, oinochoe, vessel, An upright ceramic object with a rounded, bulbous top and a narrow flared base, shown against a plain gray background; the upper portion displays a dark, mottled surface with patches of lighter, cream-colored flaking and wear, and a vertical handle-like projection rising from the top; the midsection has uneven, textured areas where the dark surface has peeled to reveal lighter tones; the lower portion and base show an exposed terracotta color with irregular chips and cracks and a dark rim at the foot; visible colors include dark black or very dark brown, cream or beige, terracotta orange, and gray from the background.
