Jug, Cypriot pottery, Base Ring Ware I, 1600–1450 BC. Jug with an echinus-shaped foot; a biconical, slightly rounded belly; a high, narrow neck terminating in a funnel-shaped, flared spout. The neck is set at a slight inclination from the plane of the foot. A ribbon-shaped handle is mounted two-thirds up the neck and to the arms of the vessel; at the neck it merges into a double applied ring surrounding the neck. Pinkish clay with a brown surface, in places fading to a brick-red hue. Surface heavily rubbed with slight loss of the rings on the neck. Origin: Cyprus. Vessel; height 12.3 cm, diameter 6.7 cm., An aged clay vessel with a rounded body, a narrow neck that flares into a wide rim, and an attached vertical handle; the surface shows mottled earthy tones including brown, tan, gray, and hints of darker speckling, with a weathered, textured appearance and areas of uneven coloration.
