Stamp seal with geometric ornament. A prism-shaped stamp seal with rounded edges and an oval, nearly rectangular base. A hole is drilled through the longer diagonal side walls transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stamp. On a flat base is carved a shallow geometric ornament consisting of regularly spaced, slightly open hooks: two large hooks with their tips touching in the center and four small hooks in triangular fields between the arms of the large hooks. Materials: seal. Culture/Date: Halaf culture, c. 6th–5th millennium BC ca. 6000–5000 BC. Place of origin: Northern Mesopotamia Iraq/Syria/Turkey. Dimensions: height 0.8 cm; width 1.5 cm; depth 1.7 cm; hole diameter 0.2 cm. Creator: unknown., A square piece of reddish-brown clay or terracotta with a circular impression in the center containing a simple carved cross-like pattern, sitting on a light gray background; the square shows rough edges and small surface cracks and texture, with visible variations of reddish-brown and subtle darker brown shading.
