Scaraboid with a monkey. The upper surface of the scaraboid is decorated with a convex image of a seated baboon facing right, with the fur on its back marked with crisscrossing lines. On the base is depicted a lying sphinx lion? wearing a feathered crown, above it a solar disk. In front of the sphinx is the figure of a seated goddess Maat?, above the sphinx's back is visible a lying feather of Maat and possibly another symbol damaged. c. 1550–c. 1186 BC; New Kingdom, 18th–19th Dynasty, Egypt. Amulet, scaraboid; height 2.3 cm, width 1.7 cm., A small worn carved object with an oval outline showing a raised textured central area and surrounding indented grooves, exhibiting a rough surface with pitted and eroded details; the object displays a palette of muted colors including gray, brown, tan, and hints of bluish-green with tiny spots of reddish tone along the edges, and the background is a uniform light gray.
