Stylized bull-headed protoma used as vessel decoration, typical Urartian cauldron ornament. Convex eyeballs are surrounded by a straight line; two horizontal lines mark the nostrils. Small protruding ears are plastically modeled; slightly curved, chipped horns are schematic. The neck is slightly elongated with a triangular bulge at the front. A rectangular cutout at the rear bottom served to mount the protoma on the rim of a cauldron. Material/function: protoma decoration. Date: 8th–7th century BC Urartu, ca. 850–585 BC. Place of manufacture: Urartu/Near East. Weight: 134 g., The image shows a brown sculptural object resembling a stylized animal head with upward-curving horns and small rounded protrusions on the sides, mounted on a clear support; the surface has mottled areas of darker brown, rusty red, and patches of greenish and whitish discoloration, with a smooth worn texture and subtle irregularities, set against a plain light gray background.
